Isn't fighting crime and having a skilled workforce more important than a quota system?
After all, it's merit that matters!
The news article in question is about four police officers who were not granted promotion because of their race.
It didn't matter that they were the ideal candidate for the job, oh no no no!
Quote from News24:
The white applicants were fully qualified - with formal training and years of experience - for these highly skilled posts.
The practice of leaving posts vacant when no suitable candidates of colour could be found was apparently a common practice - not only in the SAPS, but also across the civil service, said two independent civil service unions on Tuesday.
Incidentally, isn't the country complaining about lack of doctors and engineers? Is that related to this 'leave it vacant' policy?
